Sean McSweeney: Headland 2009

Born in 1935 in Dublin, Sean McSweeney now lives and works in Sligo. His work is almost entirely based on the small area of shoreline and bogland that surrounds his home and studio in an old converted schoolhouse. He has had numerous successful solo shows since the 1960s at prominent Dublin galleries including the Dawson Gallery and  Taylor Galleries.  He has also had major exhibitions  at the Fenderesky Gallery in Belfast and the John Martin Gallery in London. Retrospective exhibitions of Mc Sweeney’s art have taken place at the RHA and Galway (1990) and the Niland Gallery, Sligo in 2007.

Sean McSweeney has made a number of fine art prints as part of the Visiting Artist Programme at Graphic Studio Dublin.  This carborundum etching was made as part of that Visiting Artist Programme in 2009 with Master Printer Robert Russell.
